WARUM?

That means 'WHY?' in German.

And honestly, I do not know why I am asking why.

So. Today's thursday so far has been mostly uneventful. Went to theatre, and we watched more of 'Much Ado about Nothing,' and then back in our dorm Robyn and I contemplated how we could reorganize everything in it to fit a futon and a table for a tv. . . it can be done! The space is just so limited!

Tonight they're showing 'School of Rock' !!!! I'm so excited! It's a great movie, and it'll be fun to hang out with friends out on the lawn :-D . I think tomorrow we're going to Target then. We're going to get one of those flick 'vacuums' for our room, and Robyn needs a pair of jeans (one of hers ripped last night!). I will look at tops. Woot!

Now, as long as we can GET there, things will be well.

Well, off to work! Ciao for now,

Jules

Sun

It's beautiful outside. Sunny, bright, slight wind, just a perfect chill. GAH I love it. Dear weather please stay consitant for once!!!!

In other news, my eyes feel considerably better. Still gonna wear glasses for a bit so my eyes don't cause a mutiny out of my face, but for now, feeling better.

It seems the homework is just never ever ever ever ending, and that's nuts. Tonight I have to finish reading 'Much Ado About Nothing,' start my FYS paper, begin drawing multiple scaled images, and hopefully get a run in, a shower, Forensics, and oh--wait--sleep.

that too.

EGAD.

Ah well, final exams in 2.5 months.

WEIRD. That's really, when I look at how fast things have passed, not that far away!!!

eep!
ciao ciao

Red Eye

No, not the flight or the coffee drink. Literal red eyes.

For some reason last night, around nine thirty my right eye decides it would be a grand idea to turn nasty shade of red. But I leave it, thinking that it is just a contact problem. Well no. My other eye turns red, and is irratated.

This morning I look quite lovely, my red eyes insync with my mod-red glasses. . . >_< ARGH.
WHY today? Of all days. . . I have ART this afternoon--what!!!

And I honestly don't know what is wrong. If they're just irrated by something in my contacts or if something is actually wrong. Hrm. I guess if they're still this red this afternoon I could seek out a nurse or something.

I'll have to ask Katie Herald where that office is. . .

Well, homecoming week has begun! Last night it was the picnic night, so brats, hot dogs, burgers, and chili was served, along with lemonade and a helping of angry wasps. Those guys are so annoying. Dessert was amazing--I LOVE DIRTCAKE. Whoever thought to crush oreos and mix them with pudding or whatever sweet fluff the cookies are in. . . mmmmmm. Oreos just kinda go with everything.

Well, I must be off to continue my Tuesday endeavors. Until next time,

Jules

I love the Commons

Well I love it mostly. The food has not always been exactly 5-star quality, but every once and awhile something tasty comes through. . . okay more often than not. . .

what are all of these phrases called? They've gotta have a grouping. . .

Anyhoo, the Pickard Commons moved up about 20 bajillion pegs because they got a new coffee thing!!!! SO EXCITED. It is amazing. You can get espresso OR coffee, regular or decaf. (I do not even bother with decaf. It is not my friend). So basically I can get espresso add some hot water, make an Americano, add some of that lovely French Vanilla Cream (also new!) and VOILA I have achieved caffeine-perfection. MMmmm. Cozy.

Can you tell I had some at lunch this afternoon? heh.

Anyways, yesterday after dinner I was in the most contented state of mind. I was incredibly happy because I only had one class today, so knowing this, Thursday evening was spent in leisure. I wrote a letter to my friend Julie, I surfed the interweb, and [probably the best part of my evening] I ran with Adam. Now, I love running. But having a buddy to run with--that's the best. You have someone with you to keep you going, you can have conversation. It was great. I felt so much better afterwards.

A bit later last night Zach and Patrick came over, and we all went to the basement to play ping pong. Zach and I played Hand Pong (oh high school memories) and Patrick and Robyn did it the traditional way. Unfortunately the RA or whatnot on duty left for awhile when we wanted to turn the paddles back in, and she had Patrick's ID.

Finally she came back. But that waiting wasn't so cool.

Robyn accidentally slept through her Psych class today. She felt horrible. She had her alarm set for an hour later than it actually was, but she still didn't realize it until she had gotten to her class and none of her classmates were there. YOUCH. She'll be alright though.

So tonight's plan of events! I'm going to clean my room a bit, but then I have to go to an art show opening around 7. I think I'll walk down with Jose and maybe Sarah [more people I've gotten to know :) . Sarah's across the hall but we haven't really talked that much until I found her cell phone! And Jose is friends with Patrick and Zach]. Then I think we're going to watch either V for Vendetta or . . . can't remember the other title!

Jose, Patrick, Zach, Eric, Adam, Robyn, and Me.
Nice. Yea movie club.

Alright, off to work!

Oh Cozy

I am in jeans and a sweatshirt and I am drinking coffee. The leaves are changing colors. It is gorgeous. Autumn is my favorite season--coziness to the max. I hope we get to rake leaves later in October. That would be wunderschoeness fun.

Hrm. Well I had a test in Theatre 101 today. It was on characters and costumes and acting. . . it was alright. The essay we got to do before hand, which was nice. So Robyn and I got out of there relatively quickly and got back to our dorm at about 10.

Rob and I came home to find our friends conked out on the floor. . .we've been up since six. NOT COOL. I am extraordinarily jealous.

In the improvement world--I went to bed at 12.30 last night! WOOT. That's. . . quite a bit earlier than I usually go to bed!! So that was an accomplishment. Now if only I could eliminate my mild procrastination and do my dishes, I'd be golden. And maybe make my bed more often.

Sunday Robyn and I are planning to drag Patrick and Zach to Target and Goodwill. SHOPPING. Haha. Oh boys. It'll be fun. We also NEED to go grocery shopping. I'm have no milk so I've been taking my coffee black, which is alright for that first fresh cup. But once you get down to the older coffee at the end of the day it needs some sugar and cream. I share the same coffee philosophy with my Grandma Hinds. :-D

Speaking of, I have a letter for her I need to send. Which means I need envelopes. . .Which means I need to go grocery shopping. Oh what a circular world we live it.

::sigh:: Well I should get going and do some Forensics work. LOADS OF THAT TO DO.

Wed-nes-day

Today was a hard one.

Wednesdays usually are. What was different about today, however, was that I stopped in to see Professor Salas about my portfolio--it went reallly well!

He likes all of my works, and thinks I draw rather well. That was reassuring. I was glad to hear that, and it was a nice little boost before dinner. :-D

I also got to talk to THREE of my highschool friends today. That was wonderful. David Thimmesch (Knox--I got to tell him how we beat their football team! heheh), Kevin Scopoline (Madison), and Julie Shirey (Dominican). I talked the most to Julie, of course. Girl talk takes time, you know.

Well my homework decided that tonight it wants to be quite irratable--there is a lot of it and it is finicky. ::sigh:: I will write more later!

What a Wonderful World

Hm. I only wish Louis Armstrong was singing that song right now. I am in a quite basement and the only music is the hum of some machine. Meh! I'll blast my iPod later.

Well I'm excited for homecoming weekend! It isn't this weekend--but the NEXT. Oh that week will be so much fun!

This week and weekend, however, shall be also rather bueno. Tonight there's a Ramadan dinner hosted by the Cultural Diversity Club, which would be pretty cool to check out. Also, on Thursday there is an "Iron Chef" competition! I remember hearing about this, actually. I don't think I'll compete this time, but it'd be fun to look into. I wonder how you get to become a judge. . .

Otherwise, my weekend has been heavily unplanned. If we continue tradition we'll be watching some film either Friday or Saturday or both nights. :) Hm. . . We shall have to see.

My day is rather busy so I should get going. There's a ton to be done and ton that I want to do!

a witty title

whew I spared myself five minutes coming up with that title.
haha

Parents weekend went marvelously well. My mum and dad came up Saturday [not Friday] and met me at my room. I had just gotten back from helping to run the open house for all the highschoolers (mostly seniors, a few juniors) who are interested in Ripon College, and that actually was quite fun. I got to work with Zac with the lower half of the alphabet, woot! It was interesting to see these kids and know that I was there exactly a year ago. . .surreal. Anyhoo, they got to see my mostly clean dorm, took me out to lunch downtown (mmm Fat Bruce's) and then we went shopping. After a short nap I was ready for dinner! (oh god I ate sooooo much this weekend!).

Well, yet again, the niche of kids (Robyn, Patrick, Zach, and I) watched another movie this weekend, this time 'Shaun of the Dead.' LOVE that movie. Just hilarious.

OFF!

WOOOOHOOOOO

SOOOOOO it is friday! And I'm so excited.

I am going to go to bed very early tonight. One, I am exhausted, but Two, I need to get up early tomorrow to help with the open house. After that I get to hang out with my parents, and then go to the football game. We're playing Knox College! I think a couple of movies will do me in tonight. Shaun of the Dead, woot woot!!

Well the field trip for Theatre was really cool. The play, Cyrano, was well done and really funny, but also very tragic. The tour we got to go on was fantastic! I got to see the props and the costumes shops--eeh! How do I get there? It was also quite a weird trip for me. When we first arrived, the bus driver nearly crashed into The Village ("down town" Wauwatosa), so I saw all these familiar places for a brief period. . . Then the driver snaked us all over the place and eventually we got to downtown Milwaukee.

I think the weirdest thing was being stuck in a building in my city, only being able to look out at all the landmarks and buildings. . . .

I felt like I was in an inverted snow globe. . .

hm. Ohh well. In a few weekends Robyn, Patrick, Zach and I are headed to Milwaukee--WOOTWOOT. So excited. It's my high school's homecoming weekend, but they're gonna tag along with me--it's gonna be sweet.

yessss!

Well, the weekend awaits!

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD morning

ohhhhhhhhhhhhh what a beautiful mooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrningggg
bah.

It is a blustery Tuesday.

::drinks coffee::

Well, this weekend is Parents Weekend! That means my mum and dad get to come up to Ripon and see how things are going. . . and bring me stuff!! :-D I already have a list generating. . .

No, but in all seriousness, I do want them to meet my new friends, and perhaps a few of my professors.

I also want them to see that my room hasn't exploded in the past month that I've been here--I ACTUALLY KEEP IT RELATIVELY CLEAN!) It's quite a feat.

So I know they all come in on Friday, and I think there's supposed to be a magician performing that night in the great hall, and Saturday is a football game. We're playing Knox College--one of my best friends goes there! The bets are on. . . Also, Theta Chi is having a huge game of Frisbee Golf, but I'm going to be off with my mum and dad looking for a suit for Forensics--a suit. Mensch.

I probably should post a few more pictures in here, perhaps of my mostly clean dorm, or of the campus. In a couple of weeks it's going to absolutely gorgeous here--Fall's on its way. I can't wait.

PACKERS WON THEIR FIRST GAME
woot woot! That is wunderbar.

Well, I am off for the day. I have to do a couple charcoal drawings before class, and maybe sneak in a nap. Until later,

Muddy Monday

Well. The temperature is desired. But it's raining raining raining.

And all I want to do is sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.
And drink hot cocoa.
And sleep some more.

As you may gather, my sleep patterns were not of the best quality Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night. I watched too many movies, got sucked into too much internet, and slept in way too late. . .In German today we were supposed to write poems. I did one on Sleep. I'm desperate.

In other news, to make this Monday FANTABULAR--I did REALLY well on my FYS paper! The entire class period I thought that I was going to have to rewrite my paper because Professor Brown kept talking about it, etc...Then I got my paper--PHEW. And I did really well on my german quiz! Stress levels are waaay down.

Other than that, there's a field trip to the Milwaukee Rep on wednesday for the Theatre 101 class, which will ROCK. Very excited. For those who love theatre, take this course. Professor Hill is amazing. Today we had an acting workshop that was really really fun. We each got 'an objective,' meaning something we had to act out. Mine was to act like i needed to get waited on. Other people had to get food, make people pray, donate money, etc. But none of us knew what everyone wanted right off the bat. Got to be pretty funny. So we're all going up to each other, I'm screaming that I really need a menu and some water, Matt's begging for food, Leslie's telling us how wonderful she is. . .

Yes. Chaos. Wonderful.

Hm. Well I need to get off of here. My mind's pretty scattered, and I gotsta sleeeeeeeeeeeep

A Heated Week

PRAISE THE WEEK-DAY GODS IT'S FRIDAY!

ahhhhh marvelous. The weather, however, not so much. I looked at the weather forcast for next week and it says that it will be sunny and in the 60s! AH! Hopefully bipolar Wisconsin won't pull another mood swing and debunk the meteorologists' predictions. . . rawr.

Yesterday's field trip was SO COOL. We went to the Paine museum in Oshkosh, and the exhibit was so cool. Robyn and I were very jealous of all of the dresses there; they would be so fun to wear. Plus we both decided that we're getting married at that building.

Not to each other.

hah.

But the house and the gardens are really just that beautiful. I would need oodles of money. . . ::schemes::

After that we came back and hung out with Zach and Patrick, ate dinner, and worked on homework. The three left, however, later in the evening to watch a movie. I don't know if it was a combination of tiredness, my nerve-wracking german quiz, or what--but I was feeling incredibly down last night. The girly-girl part of me came through, and I listened to saaaad music and wrote angsty letters to my mum and was a general Emo kid. . . Yea.

I feel much better today though. I felt that my german quiz went really well, I'm gonna catch up on sleep this weekend, and a few phone calls from friends and my mum helped out. I think once I run after the Forensics outing tonight I'll feel fantabulous.

Yea--we're going to Barnes and Nobles to find books and plays and anything that'll help us find our future pieces. I really hope that I find something, I'm desperate.

I GOT OUT OF GERMAN EARLY TODAY. That was an upside major plus. Once you finished your quiz you could leave--that's some bueno-tastic cosmos right there. A-plus. I meandered back to my room and had a turkey sandwich. And threw away the really ripe bananas. We were gonna make banana bread, but we have no flour, sugar, eggs, or a baking pan. SHOPPING TRIP?

Well I'm going to head out. I need to do a few job-related activities, and then get back to my room where Gavin, Patrick, Zach, and Rob are all listening to loud music. And it's not a party with me, eh?

I Love Today

It is Thursday. Things I love about today:
--Due to a field trip this afternoon, I have no classes!
--Due to no classes, I got to sleep in!
--Due to sleeping in, I am incredibly refreshed compared to the rest of the week!
--Due to being incredibly refreshed, I'm feeling very optimistic

Yeaup. It is a gooooood day. Minus the slight caffeine-headache [for some reason I abstained from coffee all week. . . ]. This afternoon I'm going to check my mail, get my job form so that I will get paid for work [heh], and get lunch. After that--FIELD TRIP. It's going to be so exciting. We're going to a museum to see their exhibit on costumes. These were costumes used in film, so compared to theatre, they're beautifully detailed and just gorgeous. I can't wait to see them!

. . . sometimes it would be cool to be a costume designer. . .

'Twould be though! Anyhoo. It won't be all fun and games today, however. I need to study for a german quiz that we're getting tomorrow, as well as do my theatre reading, and run. >_< . I can't have Thursdays forever. I think there's a meeting for the photography club, Photogenesis, tonight as well!

Sorry about the rushed post yesterday, I really was so pressed for time. WEDNESDAYS ARE HORRIBLY BUSY BUSY BUSY. I did get everything done, however. Which was SUCH A WEIGHT OFF MY SHOULDERS. I got my paper in, turned in my german, and after everything I went back to my dorm and the sorority Alpha Chi Omega was hosting a rootbeer float social-thing. I had two Orange-Soda icecream concoctions [yay dinner!] and played probably the hugest game of Apples to Apples ever. I then went to bed at 7.30, woke up at 10, stayed up til 12, and went to bed again. Glorious!

Well the movie night is still on for Saturday, but rockin'-- Robyn-- Rob will be home for her brother's birthday ::tear::. Just me and the guys. . . I hope they can handle me probably crying during the movie. HAH.

Alright, well on to round two of coffee and more letter-drafting! DING.

the words Sleep and Time are quite foreign to me...

oh my god oh my god oh my god.
i've been going since 6 a.m. Woke up, worked on paper, got dressed, had breakfast, worked on paper, went to theatre 101, worked on paper, went to FYS, had lunch, went to German, went to work....EGAD!

In about 4 minutes I'll be leaving to go to West Hall in room...210? There's a required thing for German there, a Kaffee Stunde. . . Then immediately after I'm going to Forensics until 6. At 6 they're serving rootbeer floats in our dorm, which I will definitely get.

all of this and no coffee yet today. . .

And after that I AM GOING TO BED.

I can hardly wait. 2.5 hours. Here we go.

Ciao ciao

Multiple Alarms Are A Good Idea

Set your normal alarm. Then also set your cell phone. Then make sure your roomate's alarm is around your set wakeup time. And to be safe, have her cell phone set as well. If you own a rooster, bring him along. I don't think there were rules about caged birds in the dorms. . .
Also, for your ensured wake-up capabilities:
1) Do NOT do NOT hit the snooze button unless you have stout intentions to actually wake up 5, 7, or 10 minutes later.
2) If snooze has been hit repeated times, RESET YOUR ALARM.
3) Let your roomate know of important times, engagements, and classes your next morning. He or She will gladly give you a reminder. Unless her situation is parallel to yours in the alarm-hullabaloo. Then you both suck.
4) Go to bed earlier.

If this is not done, you end up hitting snooze about 16 times, ultimately falling asleep after the last poke of your alarm clock, only to miraculously wake up to look at your cell phone (which did not beep sufficiently for you to hear) and see that you have ten minutes to get to work.

And I made it--but just barely.

So power-bar in belly, coffee in hand, I am ready to take on the world! ahahaha . . . well sort of. At least I'll start out with this blog. After this I get to go back to my dorm, work on my art assignment (still life of three objects, it's supposed to be a masterpiece. . .), eat another power-bar because time is not on my side today[mum--I might need another stash of them when you and dad come up], get back from art and work on my paper, go to costumes from 7-10, continue my paper, and SLEEP.

I will get through today knowing that Wednesday is worse.

Well yesterday Robyn, Zach, Patrick, and I nearly figured out our weekend. Saturday night--we are watching Forest Gump. They have decided my unfamiliarity with this film is a sin which must be corrected. And I don't know what I'm doing Friday--I know I go to Barnes and Nobles with the Forensics team, but I also have to attend an art show opening. . . I believe I've double-booked myself!!

Until tomorrow!

a hectic, time-crazed Jules

Monday, September 3, 2007

Well, it WAS another Manic Monday

Oh boy. All three of my academic classes today. . . I'm wiped out. I think it's mostly because of my lack of sleep. And according to the rest of my week, my daily naps will have to be avoided ::tear:: . . .

Ah well, you gotta sacrifice something for schoolwork! :/

So the weather here lately has been beautiful and nearly makes up for the very horrible first week we had here. It was rainy and humid for about a week and a half. Now it is sunny and dry and wooooooooonderful. This air-conditioned basement, however, doesn't help at the moment; there are windows to my left displaying the gorgeousness that is the weather today that I am not in. ::sigh::

Again, sacrifices. . .

Today I had my first lecture, or what I consider to be a lecture. In my FYS (love and eros in the fine and performing arts) class we had a 'cluster' meeting (meaning we meet up with all of the other classes in our genre) and had a lecture about Aristocratic Love versus Peasant Love, and the transition of Warriors to Knights. . . It was actually pretty interesting. I didn't fall asleep and I took notes. Even though that room is in competition with Antarctica--FREEZING.

Well I can't take being cooped up any longer. I'm gonna head outside. Get a little sun in before Wisconsin turns into a popsicle, eh?

Jules

Sunday, September 2, 2007

I wish Sundays were as tasty as their homophone counterpart, Sundaes

yea...It is so unfortunate that tomorrow is Monday.

::tear::
If only we didn't have classes like every other college in the whole world...ah well. We get an entire week off in October, so nya! to all of 'em.

Still.

Well Friday night Robyn, Zach, Patrick, and I rented two movies--"Pans Labyrinth" and "Amadeus." We watched the first one in Scott Hall on the their HD TV...nice stuff. Good movie, very dark though. Then Saturday, like a good and responsible student, I did some homework and cleaned my room.

I also went to part of the football game! My first Ripon College football experience! Haha, I was around long enough to see us make our only touchdown. But--that was marvelous. We did lose by quite a lot, however...

Today I continued to work on homework, did my laundry (egad those dryers need to be tuned up or something...), and hung out with Rob/Zach/Patty-Cakes some more. We do need to establish a rule of no YouTube during homework time....we get virtually nothing done!

Ah well--to the insomniacs out there, I salute you. Here's to a long year of twilight studies!

Jules
